About the QS Stars Rating System
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is a British company specialising in the analysis of higher education institutions around the world. The company was founded in 1990 by Nunzio Quacquarelli. The QS World University Rankings is one of the three most influential university rankings globally along with the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
QS Stars is a voluntary university certification system designed to help students choose the most suitable higher education institution for them by ranking universities based on topics they deem important. All applicant institutions are awarded 0 to 5 stars in at least 8 of the 13 key categories.
4 stars for the Budapest Metropolitan University
During the QS Stars evaluation process, METU received 5 stars, the highest QS rating, for its outstanding achievements in internationalization. The university was also awarded 4 stars in the areas of education, employability, and inclusion, while its achievements in infrastructure, arts & culture, and academic development received 3 stars from the prestigious company. These ratings not only demonstrate that METU is now one of the most recognized institutions internationally but also provide deeper insight into its strengths and weaknesses in the selected categories.
“This acknowledgment is yet another indication that our unique teaching methods, the up-to-date practical knowledge we pass on to our students, and our place within the international community are key to making METU the top private university in Central and Eastern Europe. I am proud to be attending the upcoming QS Stars Award Ceremony at the QS Higher Ed Summit, where our university’s achievements will be recognized,” said Prof. Dr. György Kocziszky, METU’s Rector.
