EBSCOArt and Architecture Source

  • Art & Architecture Source covers a broad range of related subjects, from fine, decorative and commercial art, to various areas of architecture and architectural design. Providing over 600 full-text journals, more than 220 full-text books, and a collection of over 63,000 images, it is designed for use by a diverse audience, including art scholars, artists, designers, students and general researchers

Cambridge Journals Full Package

  • Cambridge Core is the sophisticated, high-performance platform for Cambridge University Press's academic content. It also includes content published by partner publishers – including Edinburgh University Press, Facet Publishing and the University of Adelaide Press. 
  • This full-text multidisciplinary journal collection contains over 400 titles and 2 million articles, primarily in the fields of humanities and social sciences.
  • On campus (wifi included), you are automatically logged in.
  • You can also access it remotely using eduID. For this, go to ’Log in’, select ’Access through your institution’, choose Budapest Metropolitan University. Your login information is the same as in Neptun.

EBSCO EconLit with Full Text

  • EconLit with Full Text contains all of the indexing available in EconLit, plus full text for nearly 600 journals, including the American Economic Association journals with no embargo.

EBSCO GreenFILE

  • GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,000,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 15,000 records.

GALE Info Trac Collections

  • Business Economics and Theory Collection provides access to academic journals and magazines focusing on topics in economics and related fields: starting a business, product marketing, developing policy, analysing trends, constructing economic models, research rates etc.

JSTOR – Sustainability

  • The JSTOR Sustainability collection is composed of academic and open policy research on environmental stresses and their impact on society. 
  • The collection looks at sustainability and resilience through a broad lens, spanning over more than 30 disciplines, and includes key journals as well as open research reports from leading research institutes worldwide. It features 115 journals that are all new to JSTOR and over 5,400 open research reports from more than 30 policy institutes.

ProQuest Central

  • Brings together complete databases across all major subject areas, including Business, Social Sciences, and Arts. Collects scholarly and professional publications, newspapers, magazines, and other online publications.
  • On campus (wifi included), you are automatically logged in. For remote access, select Budapesti Metropolitan Egyetem from the list, then use your usual Neptun login information.

ProQuest One Business

  • Comprehensive business library containing millions of full-text items across scholarly and popular periodicals, newspapers, market research reports, dissertations, books, videos and more.
  • On campus (wifi included), you are automatically logged in. For remote access, select Budapesti Metropolitan Egyetem from the list, then use your usual Neptun login information.

ProQuest Ebook Central

  • You can access over 2000 of purchased and Open Access e-books here. The vast majority is in English.
  • ProQuest uses eduID identification. You only need your usual METU username and password to log in.

Statista:

  • Statista is one of the world’s largest statistics and market data platforms with access to more than 1.5 million statistics, forecasts, dossiers, reports and infographics on 80,000 topics from more than 22,500 sources. 
  • Data can be downloaded within seconds in 4 different office formats. On top, every student, lecturer and member of staff receives full publication and usage rights of the data (useful if you present at a conference for example). Automatic Citation output is included, too.

Other free or partially free resources:

  • ARTFACTSThis is an international online database of galleries and museums. You can search for artists by their names, exhibitions according to countries, cities or galleries. The webpage also includes articles on art. The browser gives you the most recent and open exhibitions.

  • BASE - Bielefeld Academic Search Engine: Finds interdisciplinary scientific sources. You can narrow your search to OA, open access documents. It’s a good idea to also narrow down document type, because the results are highly varied in type.

  • Digital Commons Network: Aggregates university publications by subject area. Social sciences, law, humanities make up the greater part of this database.
  • DOAB – Directory of Open Access BooksThis is an initiative supervised by the National Library in the Hague. The database is free of charge. It is a collection of non-fiction, full-length books that you can reach with an adequate citation under Creative-Commons license. The database contains several topics including art, business, economics, linguistics, law, social sciences and technology.

  • DOAJ – Directory of Open Access JournalsThis is a free collection of journals, full-text articles, studies on human and real sciences collected internationally. All articles and journals are peer-reviewed and their content is proved as professional. Besides English, some of the articles are in Hungarian, French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.

  • EconbizA joint project of German National Library of Economics and the University and City Library of Cologne. It includes important German and international databases for economics and business studies. It provides access to about one million full texts for free of charge. It is available both in German and English.

  • Elsevier ScienceDirect: You can search and browse the open access journals of Elsevier. These are suitable as scientific sources.
  • EUROPA HomepageThe official website of the European Union. You will find information about policies, laws, and other EU-related issues.
  • Europeana: The largest aggregator for European cultural heritage resources. Includes both texts and audio-visual material.
  • EurostatContains statistics about the European Union, including economy, sociology, commerce, etc. The language of the site is English.
  • Fine Arts in Hungary: Database of Hungarian artists and their works. It includes images, covering the time period between the 12th and 20th centuries.

  • FortepanOnline private photo collection from Hungary (also in English). The pictures were taken between 1900 and 1990, and may also be downloadable in high quality.

  • Google ScholarPeer-reviewed articles suitable for thesis bibliographies. Contents include every field of science, though its coverage of arts and humanities is better than most. However, its contents are subject to change and you may not be able to consistently find what you are looking for..
  • GoogleArtProjectIt contains a vast amount of artwork displayed by museums worldwide. You can take a virtual walk in several museums. You can comment on paintings, create your own collections and share them with others.
  • IMF eLibrary: The digital library of the IMF (International Monetary Fund). You can search for the publications of the IMF, as well as statistical data.
  • The Internet ArchiveDigitized versions of websites and other resources (including videos, radio recordings, images, music scores, etc.). The collection goes all the way back to 1996.
  • Open Book PublisherThis publishing company from Cambridge offers open access to different publication in the field of humanities and social sciences. At least two experts of the field are requested to peer-view the documents before publishing them online.
  • Project Gutenberg: A collection of public domain books in a variety of languages. Although these aren’t new books, they may still be valuable for philosophy, sociology, art history, etc. studies.

  • UNdata: Statistics provided by the United Nations.

  • Web Gallery of ArtThis is a virtual museum and database. It contains European paintings and sculptures from the 11th century to the middle of the 19th century. There are short resumes connected to each artist, you can have a look at their work and read about the most important facts. While browsing, you can listen to music from that age, and you can also search for music.

  • WitcombeThis is a collection of links on art and history of arts. You can search for different age or geographical region including Asia, Africa or the Pacific. You can find images, books, journals, theses and short scientific videos.
  • World Digital LibraryYou can find images, full-length books from all over the world on cultural topics.
