Budapest Metropolitan University partners with Coursera to strengthen its online curriculum
Budapest Metropolitan University, one of the leading universities in Hungary, has signed an agreement with Coursera, a global online learning platform. The three year partnership is designed to strengthen the university’s existing curriculum in English-language programmes, embedding digital content from leading universities and companies.
Through Coursera for Campus, students will gain access to more than 4,200 international courses from universities and organizations such as Yale University, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University, University of Michigan, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,, Imperial College London, IBM, AWS, and Google, among others. Students will gain access to specialized programmes, course certificates and Guided Projects spanning disciplines as varied as programming, biology, psychology and language studies.

Budapest Metropolitan University has used online learning resources for many years. Coursera for Campus will complement and further strengthen the university’s existing resources and capabilities in this space by seamlessly integrating courses on the Coursera platform into its own curricula and allowing faculty and staff to privately author Guided Projects, courses and assessment for students at the university.
"In addition to complementing our existing courses, Coursera will provide an opportunity and a platform for our lecturers to create their own digital content," added Dr. Bálint Bachmann, Rector of the institution. - Coursera will provide methodological and technical assistance for Metropolitan’s own digital content production in the framework of the cooperation.”

Courses on Coursera consist of video and text materials divided into weekly modules. At the end of the units, students can assess their knowledge and upon completion students receive a certification to help them stand out in a competitive job market.

As universities look to build long-term flexible learning programmes for students, they should ensure their experience meets the academic rigor of campus learning. Coursera for Campus now offers academic integrity features such as online proctoring and automated plagiarism detection that will assist Budapest Metropolitan in its delivery of embedded digital content and online learning for credit.
