Alena Communication and Media BA

Introducing one of our BA Communication and Media students in her last semester

Hello, my name is Alena and this is my last semester as a Communication and Media BA student at Budapest Metropolitan University. My journey at METU started back in September 2017, a few months after my graduation from high school in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

How can you describe your journey at METU?

METU for me was a truly life-changing experience. I came to this university as a 17 years old girl, who had no idea what she wants to do in the future. I entered this university as an International Relations student, however I decided to change my major to Communication and Media. To my mind, this was one of the best decisions I’ve made so far, as I do feel like I have found my vocation.

What did you like the most about this major?

I have really enjoyed this course, due to the reason that it is really practical and diverse. During this course I have earned filming, editing, presenting and writing skills, I have also improved my written and verbal English.

Have you learned any new languages during your studies?

During my studies at METU I have also taken two language courses as electives, so now I have basic knowledge of French and German, which due to the popularity of these languages will be really beneficial for me.

Who was your favorite teacher during your journey at METU?

I honestly cannot highlight anyone. I feel like every teacher in our university knows how to find an individual approach to every student. Everyone is always ready to help you just need to ask. Even outside the classroom teachers are always available for question or collaboration.

What can you say about other students at METU?

I think people in our university is my favorite part of the whole experience. I have met so many amazing people from all over the world, who do not care about your nationality, race or culture. Everyone is always there to help you and it does not matter if you need help with your studies or you are feeling homesick.

What are you planning to do after your graduation?

I really want to continue my journey in Communication field, so I am planning on doing my Master’s degree after graduation.
