METU student diploma work at Cannes

Katalin Moldovai graduated from our Motion Picture MA program in 2017. Now, her diploma work titled 'Ahogy Eddig (Up until now)' was invited to the Cinéfondation Selection of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, which showcases the best works of film universties around the World.

The 24-minute short movie is an adaptation of the short story with the same title from Krisztina Toth. Katalin chose this story as it was built on several topics that she hershelf was curious about- such as mother-daugher relationshpis or the concept of hope.

Margit, an old lady who lives alone leaves to the hospital with her daughter, Judit, with whom she hasn't had a strong relationship for a long while.
The examination reveals that she suffers from severe skin cancer, but only Judit hears the diagnose because of Margit's hearing impairment. Judit cannot stay with her mother due to her work and other duties, however she is unable to tell her the truth.
After the examination, she'll attend the treatments on her own- but this gives her a mission and hope and her relationship with her daugher starts to change as well.
