Sándor Csoma, our Motion Picture MA graduate student won in the Best Director category for his work called Casting on the 1^st FACT International Sutdent Film Festival.

For the fourth time this year, the FACT (Film ARTS Cinema Theater) International Festival will be held, bringing the world of film and theatre together. This year's festival also hosts the 1st FACT International Student Film Festival, featuring the latest creations from students from European higher education institutions. Three of our students’ works were selected into two competition blocks.

Dániel Füzes is a Motion Picture Artist graduated in 2018. His master's thesis Szokásjogy / The Buzz will be shown on Friday, February 7, in the 1st block. Immediately after, in the second competition block, two films related to our former students: the short film called Casting by Sándor Csoma, our master student in motion picture and also, the diploma work of Bendegúz Mátéffy called the Blue Hour Ádám will compete.

                  

Daniel's film has already been recognized with numerous awards, most recently in the Palermo Sport Film Festival's, where he was awarded the Best Fiction Film Award. At the beginning of December, he was admitted to the Uşak Kanatlı Denizatı Kısa Film Festival in Turkey and was featured in the Dunedin International Film Festival. He was internationally recognized already in November: during the 14th Cyprus International Film Festival - Golden Aphrodite CYIFF it received the “ GOT TALENT ” prize at the award ceremony in Nicosia.

                                     

The Buzz has previously received a special FM90 Campus Radio award from the Malter Film Festival, and in September it also won the CineNewWave Award for Young Domestic Filmmakers at the 16th CineFest International Film Festival in Miskolc. The International Film School Festival of Tetouan (FIDEC), Morocco Daniel's film was also nominated his work at the 6th Savaria Film Festival in Tetouan, and he won the Special Prize at the Slow Film Festival. The film was also featured on Cinemascope3. The film's main character won two awards for his role in Dániel Füzes' film. He was awarded the Best Hungarian Actor at the 2019 Fresh Meat Budapest International Short Film Festival, and he was also nominated for the Best Male Actor at the 64th National Independent Film Festival.

Bendegúz Mátéffy's work as a cameraman is praised by the Blue Hour, which was his master's thesis on our Cameraman BA program. In an earlier interview with him, he talks about the film's history, working with the director, and highlighting important and current social issues without clichés.

                                     

Sándor Csoma's Casting was recently awarded the Best Short Film Award by the Association of Hungarian Journalists and the Association of Hungarian Filmmakers.

                                   

Screenings of the 1st FACT International Student Film Festival will take place on February 7-8, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, in the Premier Kultafafé.
