A modern city faces plenty of challenges. I think the biggest problem is the missing human contacts which not only makes living together impossible but also obstructs the economical and social progress.
A solution could be the support of the creative industry and creative class, who offer alternative ways to help people find each other, get closer to each other and be forged on together as one big community. This thesis shows a few initiatives in Budapest that are remarkable in cultural, art and design point of view. These initiatives stimulate developing community life, human relationships and willingness for cooperation through cultural activities.
The examples in my work shows that people are open to create new values. Based on it - and leaving room for the creative class – I see the solution in revitalizing the cultural and community life through creating a cultural main street in Újbuda. A new creative center would also be beneficial for the life of the city from the perspective of tourism and urbanism.
