Tuija Nieminen workshop
Our students working with Finnish textile artist
Finnish textile artist Tuija Nieminen held a textile workshop at the METU Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries, at the invitation of our university. The professor visited us as part of the Erasmus program.
Students of our Textile Design and Fashion and Accessory Design Specialization (Craftsmanship BA) participated in a textile workshop in the middle of October. During the one-week workshop, students were introduced to the art of crocheting. Before the creative process, our students were inspired by the Finnish designer Mari Leppälä, owner of the MOLLA MILLS brand.
The students started the workshop by creating a moodboard and then made the crochet patterns, which eventually resulted in the creation of ready-made accessories.
Tuija Nieminen is a textile artist and a professor at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Tuija holds classes in textile design and knitting at the university.
The professional host of the program is Kriszta Remete DLA habil. associate professor, fashion and costume designer, responsible for Fashion and Textile Design MA program.
