ANNOUNCEMENT /changes from 21st of September/

From 1st of September, you can still enter Hungary for study purpose with a valid residence permit or visa. However, you will need to self-quarantine at your chosen residence for 10 days. You can shorten this period if you test negative twice for Covid-19 after arriving to Hungary.

Please read our guide about the necessary documents that you need to have upon entering

Regarding the compulsory quarantine

As of 1st of September, new and stricter rules prevail upon entering Hungary. Everyone has to go into compulsory quarantine which can be left only with 2 negative COVID-19 tests that you perform after entering the country.

If you are a freshman, the address of your testing will be indicated on your Certificate, which is issued by the International Directorate of Budapest Metropolitan University. You must present this Certificate when you enter Hungary.

If you are an upper-semester student, the easiest way is to contact Medicover for the tests: https://medicover.hu/en/

IMPORTANT: After leaving the airport, please go straight to the place of quarantine that you indicated in your documents, as the police will most likely to visit you to make sure you stay in the compulsory quarantine.

For Polish, Czech and Slovak citizens: you are allowed to enter the country without quarantine if you have a valid proof of accommodation and 2 negative COVID-19 tests taken within 5 days before your arrival to Hungary with more than 48 hours between the 2.

For students arriving from the Schengen zone: the first PCR test might be performed in any Schengen zone country, however the second one must be done already in Hungary.

The official Procedures regarding the rules of entering Hungary and special medical examination for non-Hungarian students and higher education staff is available HERE.

You can read our COVID guide here, helping you cope with all the rules once you arrive to Hungary.

If you want to make your quarantine shorter with the 2 tests, please follow the procedure described HERE (the privacy policy can be found HERE).
