METU wins Organizational Development Award
With the concept of myBRAND, our university has won the first prize of the prestigious Kagyló Award for Organizational Development, the Igazgyöngy (Pearl) Award.
The Kagyló Award was established in 2018 by a professional jury of HR and communications professionals. Due to their current position, they stay in a close contact with current HR challenges, they also work with organizational developers and apply their own methods within their organization. Their aim is to make the developments visible, to collect and reward outstanding achievements and to create a meeting point for the professional community.
To our pride, METU has won this year's main prize, the Igazgyöngy (Pearl) Award at for the “myBRAND Together for the Future Generation” project. This project is aimed to create a new employer branding campaign for students and professors. METU was awarded with the Igazgyöngy (Pearl) Award for Small, Medium and Large Enterprises by a jury of top HR professionals. One of the major results of myBRAND concept, which started out as an educational development concept but has evolved into an organizational development program, is that student satisfaction in the NPS (Net Promoter Score) increased significantly (Hungarians +47; internationals +31) within one and a half years.
This happened due to the cornerstones of myBRAND that shifts focus from teaching to learning, from lexical knowledge to skills development, and from teacher to student and student community.
To avoid misunderstanding, this does not mean that professional knowledge is overshadowed, it’s quite the opposite. It is rather about the University's efforts to support the acquisition of knowledge in the most efficient way possible, along with a more personal and individual study experience. For example, when students and their instructor determine the framework and rules for a given course at the beginning of the semester, the level of commitment and motivation is much higher from the students’ part.
In addition to these, the main objectives of myBRAND are met by university’s trainings for students (34 different types !) and professional events requiring various activities (such as coaching programs), as well as trainings, workshops and mentoring sessions.
