METU Sport

Join us to do sport at METU. In September 2019 as a result of our students’ request the following sports were launched at the University. Ever since all our developments have been introduced in accordance with the students’ feedback. What can you expect during the trainings? Excellent mood, great team spirit, professional and devoted trainers. If you are competitive, you’ll have the opportunity to face a challenge and try yourself at competitions held in each semester. Do sport, enjoy yourself and find fun with others, be a successful member of our teams or take advantage of the opportunities offered to people who love individual sports.

Football

Determination, passion, the desire to win, emotions, team. These are the words best describing the most famous sport pursued by the highest number of people all over the world: football. There is nothing better than scoring a goal or passing the ball to a player scoring a goal, or to save a goal in front of your own goal line. Dance

Description:

Dancing is one of the best ways of expressing yourself in the whole world, having a lot of positive effects on your body and mind. At the same time, the participants can get to know each other, make new friends and have loads of great experiences. The METU dance lessons are for all those students who love dancing and would like to master new ways of dance forms. The focus is mostly on Latin music and dance mixed with urban style elements. By joining METU Dance, like in case of other sport trainings at the University, you can become more conscious about yourself, other cultures and lifestyles as well as becoming more empathetic to people who are different from us. Let’s dance!

Volleyball

Description

Volleyball - team, laughter, exercise and shaping your body. The fourth most popular sport in the world, also by the number of players. It is played indoors and outdoors by almost 998 million people in 220 associations. 

The rules are simple. The two teams are separated by a net so there is no body contact , it is played in three dimensions and the knowledge you gained at the trainings can be benefited on the beach. 

Power, speed, stamina are needed which can result in great physique, you can give and receive laughs as when you play you contribute to the victory. 

The trainings are held in Hungarian and English, the total beginners are offered a separate training. 

Along with the exciting university championship and amateur mixed tournaments you can get an insight into the pro’s training methods, all these wait for you in the METU volleyball trainings.

Pole Fitness

Description

Pole dance is a type of performing arts, a combination of dance and acrobatics. It contains dance elements with acrobatic tricks. Amateur and professional championships are organized in several countries all over the world and there is a world championship held each year.

Karate

Description

Karate is not only sport and movement; it is a lifestyle expressed in movements. It is not about sweating but making the movements more precise. At METU it is a kind of training shaping more the spiritual values and also teaching a part of Japanese culture. We can develop from the basics to katas (if there is need, to fight). We teach you how to protect yourself and the manipulation of the body.

Running

Description

Anybody can join the training, there is no requirement, we take care of and watch everybody. During the nicer months we organize sightseeing, thematic runs: the aim is to run and have a look at a group of buildings, e.g.iIn Budakeszi street Bauhaus / modernist-styled villas, the sights on Castle Hill and Gellért Hill, the history of lookouts in Buda.
