METU at IFDP in Chandigarh, India
The International Faculty Development Program organized by Chandigarh University took place from 8thto 12thof July in Chandigarh, Punjab, North India. This event is a platform for the exchange of views and experiences between faculties from all over the world, with similar professional areas that are embedded in the host institution’s academic programs.
This year the head of our Animation Program, associate professor Melinda Kiss participated at this event, among experts from 25 universities and 13 countries.
During the international week several lectures, screenings, and meetings were organized with the involvement of faculties from CU Animation and Film Programs. Animation movies created by METU students were very well received by the audience and got positive feedback. Many common features can be identified in the principles and objectives of CU and METU Animation: both programs focus on practical skills and B2B connections in order to prepare their students for the major challenges of the creative industry. Several meetings concerning curriculum development and research promotion took place with the leaders of the Animation Department from CU. It was useful to talk about the challenges faced by each university and possible solutions that can improve the education they provide.
Chandigarh University, founded in 2012, is among the best ranked private universities in India. The institution offers nearly 50 programs and has more than 26 000 students from India and abroad. The vision of CU is “to provide inspirational learning and to produce professional leaders for serving the society.”
