HEIMTEXTIL 2020
Between the 8th of January till the 12th of January, eight of our textile students and three textile professors attended the Heimtextil trade fair.
This year it’s the 50th edition of Heimtextil. It is one of the most visited exhibitions and fairs for interior textiles in Europe. Besides, it is a professional meeting point for designers, traders, textile engineers and manufactures. In recent years’ emphasis on sustainable products has increased, setting an example for the textile industry and trade.
This time our team looked at the exhibition with a different perspective: over the years they have strengthened their position as university exhibitors, but they are now trying to conquer the market by selling their showcased sample designs.
The first steps are always exciting, the team has successfully accomplished the set task and managed to do business with a lot of interest. Over the years, they have been able to gain insight into the world of the profession and took this next challenge very well. This is an important and useful experience for our students and it is an essential part of development.
Participating students:
Fanni Tóth,AlexandraStoics, Dorottya JúliaKatona, NikolettaKovács,AnnaPerlaki, ViktóriaSzabó,ZsófiaRácz (Bachelor of Craftsmanship) and DóraMárföldi (Master of Fashion and Textile Design)
The trainers accompanying and assisting the team were BlankaHerényi, ViktóriaZachar and ZsófiaZámori.
“We had the opportunity to travel to Frankfurt for the Heimtextil trade show thanks to METU. This was the first time we represented the university at the fair as sellers, so we sold our sample designs. Previously, we only participated as exhibitors with METU. The fair has enriched everyone with a wealth of new professional experience, and we have been introduced to the industry's international circulation, how sales are taking place and what this year's trends are. The place was huge, there were plenty of novelties and attractions. There was no shortage of inspiration. We thank our teachers for their great organization and patience.”
