Extracurricular activities in Fall 2018

We take free time seriously!
From Fall 2018 you have the opportunity to join three different kinds of events, from trips and parties to hobby groups and professional nights. You can organize or participate, take the lead or “just“ join the fun! :) We’ll post all important info in the Facebook groups & send them out by email so you definitely won’t miss anything.

Awesome Weekends with METU- METU ON THE MOVE

The International Directorate of METU is organizing a whole series of events for you! Great trips, parties dinners and international nights will make part of the project. When organizing these programs, we make sure to make them student-budget friendly as well, so you’ll all have a chance to be part of the lovely METU student community and have fun! The details about the programs will be available on Facebook a few weeks before the events.

29 September: Balaton trip- Northern Shores with wine tasting
25 October: Halloween party
17 November: Latin American Night
1 December: Demjén Cascade Thermal Spa**** trip
15 December: Bratislava Xmas market trip



Let’s get down to business!- METU ON THE JOB

The CareerCentre of METU launches a brand new line of events for you to improve your skills that will make your studies even more valuable.
We’ll provide you with 3 different kinds of events.

2. FilmClub
One afternoon about self-understanding
Once a month, 4 hours each
After watching a movie, a trainer and a psychologist will help you better understand yourself
The topic of the first year is basic emotions
3. Clubs and groups
Two times a month each
Writing Club, Public Speaking Group, Debate Group & Calculus Group


Pick a hobby and we’ll support you in it!- METU IN THE GROOVE

METU is dedicated to foster student life and communities- from Fall 2018, we launch the ‘METU in the Groove‘  program, which is aimed to help students form and maintain communities around certain hobbies.
We will organize a big ‘Hobby Chooser‘ event, where students can form or join a hobby group.
METU will support each group with 200 EUR/semester aimed to cover basic expenses (such as rental fees or uniforms).

IMPORTANT!
The Hobby Chooser is going to take place on the 24th of September so save the date and come for the fun!
On this event you can:
1. Propose a Hobby Group (e.g. soccer, music, dancing, photography etc) OR
2. Vote for other Hobby Groups
The 5 Groups receiving the highest rating will be launched and supported by METU.
The 5 proposers will be Group Leaders and the voters will be the members of the Hobby Groups.
