Within the framework of the National Talent Support Program, supported by the Ministry of Human Resources (Supporter), under the guidance of the Budapest Metropolitan University Talent Support Board, with the cooperation of excellent instructors (Zsuzsa Behringer, Dezső Daba Dér, Ferenc Kiss, Erzsébet Noszkay, Györgyi Rétfalvi, Vilmos Vass) the project "Creating a Creative Thinking Workshop on METU" began in October 2018.
With 25 talented students, the core objective of the program was to develop creative thinking, working on interdisciplinary projects. The program was based on 5 modules: 1. Startup thinking and creativity; 2. Experience-centeredness and creativity in tourism; 3. Digital World - advanced organizations; 4. Creative thinking in digital content production. 5. Creative thinking in marketing.
During the project, students were introduced to the latest results of creativity research and then to the characteristics of startup thinking. Within this framework, project plans based on a startup idea was created, along with product development and poster designs. They were also working on short video concepts, video documentation, marketing plans, and became familiar with the characteristics of creative tourism product development. After the last module, the students created an individual portfolio, reflecting on their own activities and development during the program. Feedback was also provided by the students on the usefulness of each module, and suggestions were for the next workshops.
The students were highly satisfied with the program, they were mostly happy with experiencing creative thinking and being able to discover a field they are talented in; they liked working on projects and in a cooperative environment. In June 2019, the program was wrapped up by an international competition. Several universities participated in the competition in teams of 4-5 based, where they could use the already known and applied methodologies, creative models and presentations, and students could try economic simulation games.
