Architecture EXPO 2019

The Hello Wood University Architects' Camp was founded in 2013, focusing specifically on introducing the work of Hungarian universities and it also gives an opportunity for networking and competition. In the first four years, the camp was held in Csopak, and from 2017 onwards, the camp moved to the Tokaj wine region under the name of ’Építész Mustra’(Architecture Expo), where new problems had to be encountered by the participants with the tools of architecture. The teams of the participating universities prepare their own concepts for the area before the camp, which they carry out during the event. The winning team will be selected by the participating universities by voting for the finished works.

The 2019 program - which has been incorporated into our curriculum since the beginning of last year - continues to be held at the venue of Tokaj-Hegyalja. Hungarian university teams could compete with the help of their own team leaders and their own team to compare their strengths and skills. The goal of the university teams is to create well-prepared, well-designed, well-communicated, good-to-use and durable pieces of work. The Tokaj Wine Region includes 27 towns and villages, of which 7 were included to the project in 2019. This year the work continued with more local knowledge and more experience. The goal is that every university develops an active relationship with the members of the local community in the preparatory semester so that the work being done matches the life and style of the towns and villages in the best possible way.

This year the camp held between July 5-12. The METU team set up an open-air cinema in the garden of the Szirmay-Waldbott castle in Tolcsva, to remember William Fox,  the founder of the 20th Century Fox film factory, born in Tolcsva. The title of the project is  "FOX te még mozizni” (FOX is still rolling).

The members of the team are our students of Environmental Design BA and Architectural Design MA:

Zsanett Dorka, Anna Ditta Fehér, András Graf, Kinga Katatics, Hunor Királyfalvi, Krisztina Lovas, Dorottya Lízer, Ingrid Manhertz, Dóra Szurduk

Team leaders: Beáta Molnár and Márton Pintér
